Gondal in Gujarat,
A quaint town where time may well have stopped.
History, Heritage, Architecture and Culture,
If we took the trouble to notice its treasures,
Who knows, we might turn back the clock!
A lot of preservation begins simply with appreciation.

Look closely enough and you will find the grandeur in which the Royals dined.

Gondal was made great by a generous and knowledgeable ruler.
His legacy lives.
But weeds are growing on it.
The antidote is awareness.
It can be confusing not knowing where to begin.
A walk across the palace lawns is a good start…

There was a place for everything in the erstwhile kingdom.
Passions and Collections and Reserves of Billions.
We can take ourselves back to that time in history.
Why we wouldn’t hitch a ride to it is the disappointing mystery.

We have been unjust to what we ourselves have built.
By not taking notice we disregard history and every artistic effort of humanity.
And then there are those who willingly stand,
With a broom in their hand,
To clean up all they can,
Of the mess we’ve made of our majesty, in tandem.

Stop by and do your bit.
Gondal awaits.
Its treasures must live
To be treasured forever.
